UK Photocamps

Just to let you know that yesterday I found out that the next Photocamp will be in Edinburgh, UK – more soon!

Really simple – we want you to send an e-postcard ahead of yourself – containing an image of somewhere you have been recently and with a ‘Wish You Were Here’ message to the delegates of the conference; this can be from anywhere – from the Maldives to the local corner shop!

Send your image and message by email. Please send by 30th August 2009 and keep images to a sensible size.

Feel free to also post your image (with message) to the delegates-only Photocamp stream.

PhotocampBradford {2009} is the third event of it’s kind to take place – providing affordable workshops to help those serious about their photography to advance and develop. Join us on September 5th at the UK’s leading photography museum – the National Media Museum.

An unconference, the event focuses on around twenty+ sessions throughout the day. These are primarily delivered by the conference delegates – focussing on subjects that share experiences, deliver practical skills or help you to develop your approach to better photos. Past sessions have ranged from weddings, travel and pinhole to prcoessing, self-portraits and studio lighting.

However we will also take advantage of the facilities and resources of the museum with sessions scheduled visiting the archives, having curator exhibition tours and interacting with the public.

Come along and try something new – get involved and develop your photography skills, experience and knowledge!

Attending the event is only £7.50 per delegate or £14 if you wish to have lunch provided. Admission includes refreshments through the day.

Is it for me? Yes if you have progressed beyond snap shots – those who have attended in the past have a wide variety of areas and levels of expertise – and having a pro or semi-pro camera certainly isn’t a requirement – just a desire to improve and share.

Absolutely brilliant – the National Media Museum has offered to host the next photocamp event at it’s Bradford HQ!

So, ahead of more information here’s the basics…

• When? 5th September 2009
• Where? The National Media Museum, Bradford
• Can I buy tickets? Not yet – they’ll be released at 7pm on July 5th; at both the Media Museum and Exposure Leeds.
• If I bung you a fiver can I get a ticket in advance? No – but if you go to our Facebook or Upcoming.org events and pre-register and we’ll tell you ahead of everyone else!
• How many tickets can I buy? Two. Sorry – no block bookings for this event.
• Will it be different to the previous Photocamps? In some ways – we have great opportunities in Bradford with the wonderful resources. But most of the core will stay too – we’ll still be looking to the delegates to deliver most of the sessions!
• Do you need help? Yes, we will need organisational help; but primarily on setting up sessions/workshops – what is there you can do? If you really impress us with your ideas you may get a guaranteed place!
• Will there be an evening do? Yup. Curry, anyone? (it IS Bradford!)
• Will there be a Big Sunday Shoot? Of course…

Well, after the success of 80 happy campers back in September we’re now back planning a second event in early 2009.
